Bangkok 1
Sightseeing at Wat Phra Kaew and Grand Palace
Day One was a full day of Ssghtseeing in Bankok
We started with a walk through the sidewalk vendors in the neighborhood – Banglamphu. Outside of Kao San Road, there are fewer tourists and it’s still a very gritty Bangkok working class neighborhood. Dogs and seniors lying on the sidewalks. No room to plow your way through the vendors and shoppers. Taxis and tuk tuk buggies slowing to shout prices at us.
We saw the Grand Palace and Wat Phraw Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha). This is probably the most impressive sight in the city for photo ops. But everything is so big and overwhelming. It’s hard to fit the scene into a lens and hard to capture the detail in the design and how it all glows in the afternoon sun.
Wat Phraw Kaew is a destination for devout Buddhists on pilgrimages. There are as many there to worship as there are tourists posing for photos. Very crowded spot.
