Kemby`s Spring Live

March 21st - Spring Equinox Holiday
Hiroshima, Japan

Only one photo has arrived so far from this one.

I played two sets, an hour or so in total, alone on the acoustic. There were some sound problems, as usual, but things went fine. General feedback - sounded like everyone was drunk and merry. Being a holiday, plenty of friends showed up in support - which was awesome.

Thanks to all those who showed - vernon, kate, yukari and friends, mark, greg, wendy, ramsey, maria, dan and his sister, uk greg and juju. Hope you had fun.

JuJu`s Graduation

Hiroshima, Japan
March 2006

I got the chance to see my friend Juju in her kimono on her graduation day. It was a big day for her. Congratulations !

On a personal note, I`m really going to miss the kimonos when i leave Japan. The girls only wear them on special occasions - like grad ceremonies, weddings, and their 20th birthday. They are expensive and require hours of preparation. The girls` long beautiful hair is all tied up, all curves in their bodies are concealed and they are wrapped up so tight that they can hardly walk. Yet, maybe therein lies the sensuality.

The after-party at Mac.

(Mac seems to be every party`s after-party) - the nijikai.

The Shack Anniversary Party

The Shack Anniversary Party
March 1st, 2006
Hiroshima, Japan

I haven`t been sent many photos from this one yet - which is a bit strange for Japan, where photography is just about everyone`s hobby.

This is Tomo`s Band - jammin` out.

There were quite a few groups. Lion`s Den, New Port, Hiroshima Head Band, Mark Harrison, The Shack Staff Band. I started at 10:30 and played a 45 min. set - solo acoustic.

The highlight of the night was the Nepalese Curry prepared for everyone by Prakash - shack bartender extraordinaire. Almost 300 tickets were sold. I`d never seen that many people in the shack. The shack is normally a pub and grill - so the stage was makeshift, in the middle of the bar. By the time i played, everyone seemed really drunk - plenty of incherent shouts between songs. In that sense it reminded me a bit of the old University gigs. One guy sang some Bruce Springsteen and proposed to his wife between songs. She took the ring and bowed to him. Is that a yes or a no?
This is Bud`s band.

Thanks to all who showed up to support. Yukari, Vernon, Kate, Mark, Shuichi, Aiko, Emma.

Jay and Dan - Rockin` the Commodore

Brainchild
Commodore Ballroom
Christmas 2005

The Commodore is a landmark in downtown Vancouver. It holds over a 1000 drinkers. I`ve seen plenty of cool shows here - like J.J. Cale, Wilco, Los Lobos, to name a few.
(Mountain was definitely the worst show i`ve seen here - but that`s another story. )

Anyway, the point is - playing here, if you get the chance, has got to be a sweet feeling.
Jay and Dan did so. Nice work cats!!!
